2010 Wine Tasting

THANK YOU!

The TRRA Juniors Boosters organization would like to thank all our sponsors and guests for making our first annual fundraiser a rousing success. We could not have done it without you!

Scenes from our March 11, 2010 wine tasting fundraiser at Pittsburgh’s Grand Hall at The Priory:

Food call sample e-mail

*Below is an e-mail that was used for the Hoover Invite food call on April 12, 2009.

Greetings TRRA parents!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter. It was nice to see many of you at Saturday’s scrimmage and I hope to see you at all the upcoming races.

Now, for the reason I am writing to all of you — we need your help! In five days the kids will be racing and they not only need our encouragement but sustenance from 7:00 AM till the last race after 4:00 PM. We will be setting the tents up very early on Saturday in Westerville– around 6:30 AM – ideally we would like as many volunteers as possible. We will definitely need a lot of help dismantling the tent and miscellaneous items after the races on Saturday.

What to expect

Good news, it looks like we’re going to have very good weather for the race. The forecast calls for 66 degrees and partly cloudy skies. http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/tenday/USOH1035?from=36hr_topnav_business

The Hoover Invitational begins at 7:30 AM with the coaches and coxswains meeting – heats begin at 8:30 AM. Coaches will advise rowers when to be at the race. As a rule of thumb; the team stays together the entire time unless previously arranged with the coaches.

Parents bring portable chairs, blankets, sunglasses, hats, cameras, binoculars, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, book to read, laptop and whatever else to keep occupied and comfortable during the day. One big warning about Westerville – it is very difficult to park your car near the venue after 7:00 – get there early if you want a good parking space or park at the remote areas with van shuttle. Watch out for the police — they will ticket for cars parked the wrong way. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way last year as I parked my car the wrong direction on a street in a neighborhood close to the venue. So, park the same direction as all the cars around you and you’ll be fine. 

NEW! TEAM TRAILER!

We have excellent news this year – Jon Murcek has generously allowed us to use his 8X5 enclosed trailer. This is huge help as it will allow us to store and transport the tents, tables, tarps, grills, non-perishable supplies, water, Gatorade, etc.. without having to haul them back and forth to our homes after every race. Jon will be bringing the trailer to TRRA sometime this week. We will get the big supplies loaded early. We would like to have the trailer fully loaded before the team leaves at 4 PM Friday. Jon Palmer will be hauling the trailer this race and to Moraine on May 2. We do need a trailer driver for Ohio Cup (Columbus) on April 25 and Midwest’s (Cincinnati) on May 16 – if you have a truck with a trailer hitch and are interested please contact me – we will pay for your gas.

Now, below is a food list and item request for the team food tent. Parents that are with us from last year know the drill pretty well. If you can bring any of the below items please e-mail me back at: trrarowmom@gmail.com. (Please do not reply to all in this e-mail.) I will add you to the e-mail list and we will be sending daily updates on what is and is not needed. If you see a name by an item it’s taken. We got off to a pretty good start this weekend with the Cleveland Scrimmage as we have a lot of Gatorade, soda, juice, and some snacks left. Please look over the list below and if you see anything missing or have something else you would like to add please contact me.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you!

Warm Regards,
Anita Potter
